Moving to Helm

Postby daveg » Mon Sep 11, 2006 4:41 pm

We get a lot of people asking about this, so I've attached some useful notes below.

Before you begin
1. If you are moving from a Linux server please make sure that your site is compatible. If you are running a script then you should check with the original designer. Commercial scripts usually have a minimum requirement page on their web page. Also note that Windows does not support sendmail, instead you can use a component such as Jmail, Dimac Mailer or PHP mailer.
2. Make up a list of your users & passwords.
3. Make a full backup of your files & databases.

Domain Notes
If your domain name is on our name servers (see below) then we will do the updates for you.
You can check this online @ If your domain name is not on our name servers then you need to change it with your registration company or get them to update the IP addresses for you. (See the account sheet)

1. Contact and we will send you the new login details. Also please include the list of your users & passwords. If you want to test the site before you update your domain please make sure to include this with your request.
2. Upload your website content to the new hosting account.
3. Contact to update your domain & close your old account.
4. Test your site to make sure its working fully on the new server.
