Hi,

hopefully moving to a dedicated server soon. With SSL & certificates (I'l be doing my own online payments as well as using paypal etc) do you provide the certificate or must i go about setting it up myself? And (I'm a bit confused about this) if the secure page is located on another server will my templating engine (Smarty) still process the request?

Hi Firma,

On our shared hosting plans we will provide the SSL certificate, more information about this is available online @ http://www.webworld.ie/windows/ssl.php. If you move from a Windows shared server to a Windows dedicated server then we can export the certificate for you. Its only possible to do this when the web servers are the same. (eg IIS ==> Apache will not work)

On our dedicated servers you have a little more choice, you only need the certificate as we dont charge extra for IP's on dedicated servers. In this case you have 3 options.

1) We can install the certificate for you. The charge for this is €70 + VAT.

2) You can buy a Thawte certificate from us and install it yourself. We charge €50 + VAT for the certificate on its own. (RRP €112)

3) You can buy a certificate from a 3rd party and install it.

For more information on installing the certificates yourself please see:

For: Ensim Apache 2.0

For: Apache 2.0 (No Control Panel)

If you have any other questions just let me know.
Thanks

Thanks Dave,

just a few more questions and I'll be finished

I have the site working on a local server ie my computer! If I send the specifications required (eg Php5.2, Apache/2.0.59 (Win32) ->handler) and the modules/extensions can webworld configure the server for me? There's nothing out of the ordinary with the specifications just that some of them aren't loaded on the shared servers.
I'd be requiring them on Windows NT. I'm looking at mid plan 1 to begin with (Intel P4 3.0Ghz 2x160GB (RAID 1) 1024MB (ECC) €150 pm ). What bandwidth would this allow me as bandwidth would be the biggest concern for me?

Many thanks in advance.

Firma.

Hi Firma,

Sure we usually configure the first site on our dedicated servers free of charge, so you can see from that site how to add more sites. Outside of this we charge €35 + VAT per hour to do administration work on dedicated server hosting plans. Or if you got a managed hosting plan we would manage all the administration work for you. Please see http://www.webworld.ie/dedicated/managed.php

Regarding bandwidth, all our dedicated servers come with 1000GB of data transfer per month, this is a huge amount for any server to transfer. To give you an idea, one of our busiest servers transfers 300GB per month. This server has 400 sites! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks
