multiple domains

Postby Firma » Wed May 23, 2007 2:00 pm

I have a dedicated server with several domains on it. As regards email and mail settings I can set up several emails per domain. eg. sales@website1.com, sales@website2.com etc

However if i specify the mail server as mail.website1.com is the mail server for website2.com the same?? I'm confused on this issue for a while now.

Using hmailserver. Would you recommend any particular mail server??

Hi Firma,

The mail server will listen for all requests on port 25 on your IP adderss. So any domain you point to this IP address will work. People use mail.domain.tld because its easy to remember.

I've never used hmailserver, but I would recommend that you look at [1] Smartermail. The 1 domain version works for free and it has a lot of great features. we use this software on all our new servers. If you want a free solution you could use [2] Mail Enable

[2] http://www.mailenable.com/standard_edition.
